Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 of 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou who was who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). Athena, his younger sister, is also drummer. Lee was two years old when his father decided to move the family to California. He also received his first drumsticks when he turned four. He also received his first drum set at the age of 16. He dropped out of high school to pursue an interest in music and began in the L.A. club band Suite 19. As a teen was listening to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC and Sweet. John Bonham and Tommy Aldridge were his most significant drumming influences.
